high heeli've seen them in high heel squish toes, flip flops, go go boots, sneakers and boring cushions (the later being the most comfortable). teachers wear an unusual assortment of shoes for sure. some i just cannot understand; that it hurts just to look at them (even if they are gorgeous!) or seems impossible to run in (just in case you have to run).
Some seem silly to wear school and the most comfortable often lack luster. of course, these are all my own humble opinions! what might hurt one could feel great to another. i'm sure my six inch steve madden platforms freak some folks out yet they are sooo comfortable. my favorites however are my keens in various forms and my doc martens. way comfortable and a bit less boring them some. this is for a reason, if my feet hurt, i'm a cranky teacher!
yet, lately my feet hurt regardless of the shoes as i have developed plantar fasciitis. this is painful and can hit anyone who stands for a living and i stand for a living! good news is that it doesn't hurt to bike ride. ;)

i have challenged my students. they have one week to e-mail me the title of a book they shall read for pleasure. read outside of the classroom. read...anything, anywhere and at anytime...read...
the e-mail part was a way for the students and i to engage through electronic media, a skill for which they are to be held to. many of my students do not have computers, but hopefully they will refer to one of the many libraries on the Pueblos and in town. even during lunch at school!
they also had a treasure hunt to go on. see if you can find my classroom. go here
look for Cochiti schools. find the mid school. find my classroom. look around. what are your assignments. (pretend to be a 6, 7 or 8th grader!) go to the calendar. what's coming up?
so, that is their homework, it is due Friday. 5 out of 75 have responded thus far. these kid's are great!

All others should be treated with dignity. Stop judging and start getting educated!

7.12 ~one: Keep in mind that when riding in a bike lane next to traffic, never ride side by side as danger lurks in even more places when you do. You wouldn't want to bump a buddy into traffic as you swerved to avaid a bunch of nails would you?
7.13 ~two: Always apply sunscreen to the area on your back that is between the bottom of your shirt and the top of your pants as "ride up" sunburns are fricken nasty!
7.14 ~three: Wear a helmut even if you think, "I'll never, ever fall off my bike!" Absolutes can jinx you.
7.15 ~four: Take some time and spend a little cash to get your bike adjusted to YOU. You can save yourself much aches and pains and enjoy riding even more when you all fit together in a symbiotic relationship. go on, have fun!
7.16 ~ five: Follow the rules of the road to make sure you create a partnership with vehicle riders instead of pissing them off even more (this is a reality even if we believe they should just get it, we need to do our part!). So, pedal in your lane, use hand signals, do not cut pedestrians or vehicles off and only use the sidewalk in emergencies. For more guidance: bicyclesafe.com
